~ASH WEDNESDAY AND LENT AT HOLY FAMILY~

Theme for Lent: “Pathway to the Cross&rdquo

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and, has been our custom; we will be blessing and distributing the ashes at two celebrations of Eucharist. One is at 12:10 and the larger celebration at 7:00pm.

Included with this bulletin is the Lenten schedule of special times of prayer and traditional Lenten services. Do try to have this be a special Lent as this will be the last time we celebrate the season in this church. Let us pray for one another as we journey to Easter.

~TRANSITION TEAM ESTABLISHED~

We are coming closer and closer to occupying our new church and parish facility. Although we cannot at this moment establish an exact date, Frank Allen, assisted by Celina White, will gather a number of people to develop a plan and time line as to how this transition will take place.

~PASSION PLAY~

Levels 6, 7 and Confirmation classes are invited to join Glenna O'Quinn to participate and present a passion play for parishioners on Sunday, March 28th. The group meets Sunday evening beginning at 7:00 in the Church Hall. This Sunday, Glenna would like to meet with parents of youth involved in the process beginning at 6:30 in the Church. There are many roles in the production that requires your gifts and talents (actors, sets, music etc). All are welcome and we ask parents to encourage your child to participate in a presentation that will deepen their faith.

~HEALTH CARE SUNDAY~

The bulletin insert reminds us that February 14th is Healthcare Sunday and contains photos of various local healthcare facilities. The inside of the insert contains information on our Lenten theme and also Lenten schedules. Parishioners are asked to reflect on all aspects of local healthcare and pray that the Lord will guide healthcare professionals at all levels to continue caring for our people in a caring, compassionate and just way.

~LITTLE ROCK SCRIPTURE SERIES~

The Little Rock Scripture Series continues this week. We meet Monday evening in the Church Hall beginning at 7:00. The session will be repeated Thursday morning beginning at 10:30. During Lent, the Thursday morning session will be followed by Mass at 12:10noon.

~RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS~

12 EFFECTIVE MEASUREMENTS OF PARISHIONER ENGAGEMENT

There are 12 measures of parishioner engagement and over the next few weeks we will offer some reflection on these measurements and how we might integrate these within parish life, committees and organizations. This week our measures for parish engagement are these:

  1. The mission of the Parish makes me feel my participation is important.
  2. Other members of my parish are committed to spiritual growth.

Do I see the mission of the parish as more than attending Sunday mass? Offering to participate in the ongoing life of the parish will broaden our perception of the parish mission and deepen participation in Sunday Eucharist. Your participation is important. Do I see others deepening their spiritual commitment? How do I support their desire to deepen their relationship with the Lord? We encourage your reflection on these measures during the coming week. Should you have any suggestions, you may forward a note to the Stewardship Council to be included in developing a future pastoral plan for our parish.

~LENTEN FOLDERS~

Lenten folders are included with this week’s bulletin. We ask that you take them home and return them with your offering at Easter.

~SCHEDULES TO BE PICKED UP ~

Please Note: The new schedules for Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Hospitality and Usher/Collector are ready to be picked up for those who do not have an e-mail address.

~KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP~

The Knights of Columbus scholarship applications are now being accepted for post secondary education. Scholarships are open to those graduating from High School this year, as well as, students enrolled in their first year of post secondary education. Deadline for applications is March 12, 2010. Forms are available at the back of the Church.

~2009 DONATION RECEIPTS ~

Donation receipts are available on the table at the back of the church for those who did not receive their receipt.

~FOSTER FAMILY~

TNothing is more important to a child than being part of a family. Have you ever thought about becoming a Foster Family? While homes are being sought for children of all ages and abilities, the most serious need in the Northern Region is for families or individuals with skills in caring for children and youth with behavioural problems and/or special needs. Now is your chance to learn more and become part of this worthy effort. If you are ready to open your home and heart to a child or youth in need, please call 1-800-565-1884 for more information.
