~SERVING..INVITING..THANKSGIVING~

On our “Path to the Cross” we are slowly revealing some of the characteristics we travellers should have. The basis for our “stewardship way of life” is gratitude or giving thanks. This has to be part of the character of all who take this path. We are to be seen by others as those who are truly grateful for all that has been given to us for we have merited nothing. “For what am I grateful and for what must I give thanks?” Will we ever have enough time to give in return for what we have received?

~SEE YOUR GIFT GROW~

Next Sunday, along with the rest of the Church in Canada, we celebrate the annual Development and Peace Solidarity Sunday with this year's theme “See Your Gift Grow.” Our Parish has supported this effort faithfully for forty years and we trust in the same support this year. Development & Peace brochures are attached to this week's bulletin.

~SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!~

Parishioners, adults and children are going to be invited to enter the new church in the next couple of Sundays. Why? The gyprock will soon be installed on the walls. Before that happens, all are going to be given the opportunity to write on the inside of the wood their names, comments, wishes etc. When? We do not know the date yet, but will keep you posted. In the meantime PLEASE NOTE while construction continues only authorized persons are permitted on the site of the new church.

Thinkfast is an opportunity for young people to reflect in issues of social justice and the gospel call to assist people in other lands. Their efforts will support the annual Development & Peace campaign. The Lenten Thinkfast is open to young parishioners from Level 7 and up. They are invited to &ldqu;fast” from early morning until the event concludes with a meal together that evening. Liquids will be provided throughout the day for nutrition. Participants are to receive pledges supporting their participation and pledge sheets are available from the Parish Office or Kim White. For further information, please call Kim White at 661-2217 or Deacon Howard 667-2523.

~TRANSITION COMMITTEE~

A transition committee has formed to plan the move to our new parish facility. They will be looking at practical aspects of the move and also spiritual opportunities that hopefully will assist our parishioners in the coming weeks. They met this week and are looking for donations of artifacts from our founding parishes of St. Charles Borromeo and Nativity of Our Lady. These will be included in a time capsule that will be placed on the property of our new church. Beginning after Easter a receptacle will be placed at the church entrance to receive items. You might consider photos, rosaries, small crosses or newspaper items that might be included in the time capsule. The committee is also looking for people interested in scrapbooking. These people would assemble photos, articles and clippings of the history of our founding parishes. Please call Frank Allen 545-2886 or Celina White 667-1222 for more information or if you would like to be a participant in this newly formed committee.

~FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION~

Are you a senior or low income person or family? As a service to parishioners, Maria Kirkpatrick will prepare your Income Tax return free of charge. Please contact Maria at the Parish Office at 667-2523 for more particulars. All information will be kept confidential.

~CUMBERLAND YMCA~

The Strong Kids Campaign is aimed at raising public awareness and much needed financial support for the work that the YMCA does to provide children, teens and families with the values and life skills they need to succeed. The Cumberland YMCA encourages the development and maintenance of a healthy mind, body and spirit through health, fitness and social programs. The campaign is focused from February 15th to March 15th but you can make a donation all year round. It is only with the continuous support of community minded individuals, like you, that we are able to maintain our quality programs and services. Donations can be made in person at the YMCA, online at www.ymcastrongkids.ca over the telephone (credit cards only), or by mail.
