~News from the Construction Site~

The masonry work is nearing completion. Inside, the various rooms are taking shape. This past weekend marked the closing of the Church Hall. Meanwhile, since we haven't much new to see we thought we'd use the space to remind you of two of the fund-raising initiatives underway, The Legacy Project and the Photo Contest. In addition to these activities, an Open House is scheduled to begin at Saint Charles church later in May. And if that's not enough, the list of Surplus Equipment is now available for anyone who maybe interested in purchasing items from Saint Charles .

All these inititiates are described in greater detail throughout this week's bulletin, so this spot can be used as a quick reference area over the next few weeks.

~THE DATE HAS BEEN SET~

As was disclosed last weekend, the official dedication and opening of our new church and parish facility will be Sunday, July 25th at 4:00 in the afternoon. It will be a glorious celebration!!! Between now and then we will have numerous announcements and much work to do. It will truly be a busy time for the Parish, and exciting time but a time when we will be calling upon the generosity of many people.

Our tentative plans are that we will be functioning in the present church up to an including Sunday morning the 25th of July. On that weekend there will be still the regularly scheduled weekend services at 4:30 on Saturday and 10:00 Sunday morning. We will attempt to keep everyone as well informed as possible in the duration but do ask people not to be hesitant to ask or phone for clarification or information.

~PARISH HALL IS CLOSED TO ALL ACTIVITIES~

Our Parish Hall is officially closed to all parish functions. Because of the work related to the construction of the new church, the Parish Hall has become a workshop storage area. To ensure security, locks have been changed so that entry to the church and hall is limited.

~INVITED TO WEAR RED NEXT WEEKEND~

We celebrate the Feast of Pentecost next Sunday when the Holy Spirit appeared to the apostles like in “tongues of fire”. To help us celebrate this gift, we are encouraged to wear something red.

~HOLY FAMILY TRANSITION COMMITTEE NOTES~

See the attachment on this bulletin concerning details of the open house to be held from May 25th to May 28th and also on June 1st and 2nd from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. On the reverse side, please also note details of a photo contest sponsored by the Transition Committee of the parish. For more information, please call Frank Allen 545-2886 or Chris Manuge 667-2711.

~SENIORS’ BUS TRIP~

A seniors’ bus trip to Summerside, PE is planned for Tuesday, June 1st. The bus will leave Holy Family Parish at 9:00am. Cost is $15.00. To reserve a seat contact Bernadette O’Brien at 667-9858.

~NOTICE OF SUMMER MASS TIMES~

Beginning next weekend May 23rd and continuing until Labour Day weekend, our celebrations of the Lord’s Day Eucharist will be Saturday at 4:30pm and Sunday at 10:00am. Also, our weekday Mass schedule will change to Monday and Friday at 9:30am.

~PARISH LEGACY FUND ~

To date over 90 people have donated to the Parish Legacy Fund. For a donation of $109.00 a small engraved plaque will be placed on the back of the kneeler portion of the new chairs. Monies raised from this project will be used towards the cost of the new kneeler/chairs. This is a wonderful way to remember loved ones. If you are interested in purchasing a commemorative plaque toward the cost of the new chairs, please contact Maria at the Church Office.

For those interested and not able to pick up a form, a downloadable version is available on our Website. Legacy Fund Form

~SURPLUS FURNISHINGS FOR SALE~

Vince Byrne is coordinating the sale of surplus furnishings in the Church. A list is available at the Church entrance for interested parishioners. The list is subject to change without notice and items may be sold in bulk should an offer be received. Prices are negotiable to some extent. All items are sold as is, where is, with the buyer responsible for removal. Items will be available after July 25/10. Any items that will affect the integrity of the structure or expose the interior to weather/vandalism will only be available after we have moved and at an agreed time as indicated by the Building Committee. Please contact Vince Byrne for further information or to make an offer at mortgagebroker@ns.sympatico.ca

The list is on-line for viewing. Click here to see the Printer-Friendly Surplus Equipment List.

~FAMILY MEMBERS IN HOSPITAL~

It would be appreciated if the Parish Office could be informed of the admittance of family members to our local hospital. This will ensure that all parishioners will receive a visit from the pastoral team.

~NEW CHURCH ARTWORK~

A couple of retired teachers looked at the children’s artwork depicting the move to our new facility. Three entries will receive a gift card from the local A& W in the amount of $25.00. Winners were Fumairia Laureijs (Level 1), Stephanie Gloutney (Level 3) and Abbie Smith (Level 4). All other participants will receive coupons from the A & W for their entries. We thank everyone for their interest and all entries are displayed in the church this weekend.

~CHILDREN’S LITURGY~

With the formal closing of the Church Hall this weekend, the Children’s Liturgy program also has concluded for another year. This is an important weekly parish ministry at the 9:00 and 11:15 masses as our young parishioners hear the Word proclaimed and explained in simpler form. We thank our teams for their faithfulness to this ministry. Dana Carr, Brenda Rioux, Janice Melanson, Linda Cole, Christine Pipes, Chris Manuge, Betty Gloutney, Linda Harrison, Michelle Dobbin, Sherri Beed, Joan Allen, Pat Donkin, Marcia Sparkes, Lorna O’Brien, Colleen Keagan, Rachel Gamblin, Maria Boudreau and Gillian Moore donated time and talent to this ministry. We hope many will return to this ministry in the fall as we celebrate Children’s Liturgy in our new facility.
