~News from the Construction Site~
While it might appear not much has changed if you have driven by lately, there is a detailed update in this bulletin on all the progress behind the walls. Don't forget the other activities underway, too. like The Legacy Project and the Photo Contest and the list of Surplus Equipment is now available for anyone who maybe interested in purchasing items from Saint Charles. By the way, thesurplus list is updated at least weekly.
All these inititiates are described in greater detail by clicking on the link!.
~TIME AFTER EASTER~
- The Church the world over moves into Ordinary Time as part of the Liturgical Year with the celebration of Trinity Sunday today and the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ next week. It is a slightly different story for us here in Holy Family Parish:
- We are working toward the dedication of our new church and official opening of our Church Complex for Sunday, July 25th.
- The painting has been done in all the rooms adjacent to or connected with the new parish hall.
- The blue board is in place in the rest of the building except the ceiling of the new church. Insulation was installed in the ceiling this past week.
- All the duct works for the airflow system is pretty well in place.
- The first set of doors of two main entrances have been put in place.
- The heat has been on and most of the electrical work is completed as well as all the outside brick work.
~OPEN HOUSE CONTINUES~
As the outdoor sign indicates, Open House of St. Charles Church continues this week May 31, and June 1st from 3:00 to 7:00pm. A guest book has been placed for those visiting to sign and a written history has been made available for the guides. The transition committee thanks parishioners who were available to answer questions for visitors who took the opportunity to visit the church during this period
~TRANSITION COMMITTEE NOTES~
Just a reminder of the Open House in the current church will be held from May 25 to 28th and also on June 1st and 2nd from 3:00 to 7:00pm. These times will allow the general public and parishioners to spend quiet time, take photos or chat with friends. Some parishioners will be on hand to answer any questions about the church and its history. For more information, please call Frank Allen 545-2886 or Chris Manuge 667-2711.
~WEAR WHITE NEXT SUNDAY~
All are encouraged to wear some white clothing next Sunday as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ.
~TRANSITION COMMITTEE PHOTO CONTESTS~
Parishioners are invited to submit photos of memorable celebrations and events that took place in both founding parishes of Saint Charles Borromeo and Nativity of Our Lady. A panel will choose 12 or 13 submissions to be included in a Holy Family Parish calendar, available for sale late in 2010. Parishioners may also submit photographs of the current church, its windows and sanctuary etc. Deadline will be June 15 and photos can be left at the Church Office or sent digitally to hgotell@eastlink.ca For more information, please call Frank Allen 545-2886 or Chris Manuge 667-2711.
~ARCHDIOCESAN STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE~
Members of the Archdiocesan Stewardship Committee will be present on Thursday, June 3rd to tour the new facility and conduct their regular meeting. The parish is pleased to host the group from Halifax. They will meet with the Pastoral and Stewardship Councils beginning at 7:00pm in the Church Office. All members are asked to be present.
~PARISH LEGACY FUND~
To date over 120 people have donated to the Parish Legacy Fund. For a donation of $109.00 a small engraved plaque will be placed on the back of the kneeler portion of the new chairs. Monies raised from this project will be used towards the cost of the new kneeler/chairs. This is a wonderful way to remember loved ones. If you are interested in purchasing a commemorative plaque toward the cost of the new chairs, please contact Maria at the Church Office.
For those interested and not able to pick up a form, a downloadable version is available on our Website. Legacy Fund Form
~CHOIRS FOR THE SUMMER~
With only the one celebration on Sunday morning, the 9:00 choir along with other choir members is going to be responsible for Sunday morning until the end of June. Throughout the summer, Joyce Fraser will be leading the singing along with any other choir members who are present. Our 4:30 choir manages to be present through most of the time with perhaps fewer members on a given Saturday. We are grateful for all our choirs, including our young people’s choir, for their faithful ministry through the year and look for their full return in the fall.
~RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS~
- Families or catechists who have textbooks are asked to leave them at the church entrance or the parish office on or before May 30th. Returning textbooks will lower costs of programming next fall.
- We have First Communion banners for Logan Pipes, Lauren Furlong, Sydney Bowen and Seth Richards at the Church Office. These may be picked up during office hours.
~BAPTISM PREPARATION~
Parents wanting children baptized should call the Parish Office to schedule an appointment for Baptism preparation. Please call Maria or Deacon Howard at 667-2523.
~NATIONAL HUNGER AWARENESS DAY~
Tuesday, June 1st is Hunger Awareness Day; an opportunity for Canadians to collectively acknowledge that hunger exists in communities throughout our country and to learn about the challenges that people face in light of this unfortunate reality. Foodbanks have become a necessity for far too many Nova Scotians. Each day individuals and families across the province line up in their communities looking for assistance. We hope you will consider participating in Hunger Awareness Day, a day when we can all join together and help make a difference. Come be part of the Nova Scotia Hunger Line-up in Amherst at Victoria Square at 12noon to 12:15 on June 1st.
~STEWARDSHIP CORNER~
John’s gospel this week says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. The gospel also says, “All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” The baptized, you and I, are recipients of God’s grace freely given in abundance. The Spirit encourages and strengthens us to share God’s goodness. As stewards of these gifts, we will be held accountable, should we decide to keep these gifts for our own use and satisfaction?
~FAMILY MEMBERS IN HOSPITAL~
It would be appreciated if the Parish Office could be informed of the admittance of family members to our local hospital. This will ensure that all parishioners will receive a visit from the pastoral team.

ARHS Final Concert will be held on Sunday, June 6 at 2:00 and 7:00pm
