~WHAT IS HAPPENING AT HOLY FAMILY PARISH ON THE WEEKEND OF JULY 24TH AND 25TH?~
There are two important liturgical rituals that will be celebrated within the usual Celebration of Eucharist.
1st- Liturgical Closing of St. Charles Church
- Both celebrations of the Eucharist will begin with a ritual recognition of significant places in our worship area: the baptismal font, reconciliation room, acknowledgement of the place of statues in our devotional life and finally, the importance of the altar as part of the worship celebrated here for over 100 years.
- At the end of the Mass, all candles and lights will be extinguished, the sanctuary lamp will be put out and all will leave the church with the presider the last to leave. The doors of the church are then officially closed for the last time.
2nd -Dedication of the new Holy Family Church
Entrance and Liturgy of the Word
- Weather permitting; the ceremony will begin outside on the huge concrete slab under the canopy.
- Archbishop Mancini will preside after receiving the architectural plans and the official turning over of the church.
- Once inside the church the assembly is sprinkled with holy water.
- There follows the solemn presentation of the lectionary, the proclaiming of the Word, a homily and the profession of faith.
Prayer of Dedication and the Anointing
- There is first the placing of the relics in the altar.
- Prayer of dedication.
- Elaborate anointing of the altar, anointing of twelve crosses throughout the church, incensing of the altar and around the whole church, then the solemn cleansing of the altar, placing on of altar cloth and lightening of candles.
Celebration of the Eucharist for the First Time
-
The church is now dedicated and so there is the celebration of Eucharist, the principal and the most ancient part of the whole rite.

~VOLUNTEERS NEEDED~
Prior to opening our new church and hall, a number of tasks will require the assistance of parishioners. For example chairs for the new church should arrive sometime on July 5th. We will need 10 or 15 people to assist with unloading, unpacking, some assembling and placement of chairs in the church. Other tasks, especially during the week of July 18th will require volunteer assistance. If you are able to lift, assemble or do cleaning, we can use your help. Please call the Church Office at 667-2523 and leave your name. This is an excellent way to offer gifts of time and talent as we prepare to open our new worship area with Archbishop Mancini on July 25th.
Fundraising News
We are all still reeling from the good financial news shared with all last weekend. As promised, a letter has been sent out to all parishioners with the details of this generous offer and challenge. Click here to read the letter.
You are reminded to return your raffle tickets (in the collection or bring them to the Office). We thank the many families who have already returned their sold tickets. We will soon begin selling tickets on our beautiful quilt at various locations around town. Anyone interested in helping us to sell tickets is asked to call Judy at 667-1620.
We are looking for good used purses, wallets, clutch bags and scarves for an upcoming Parish fundraiser. You can drop these off at the entrance to the church in the boxes provided.
For a donation of $109.00 a small engraved plaque will be placed on the back of the kneeler portion of the new chairs. Monies raised from this project will be used towards the cost of the new kneeler/chairs. This is a wonderful way to remember loved ones. If you are interested in purchasing a commemorative plaque toward the cost of the new chairs, please contact Maria at the Church Office. For those interested but not able to pick up a form, a downloadable version is available on our Website. Legacy Fund Form

The Rite of Christian Initiation (R C I A)
The Rite of Christian Initiation is the process that invites adult inquirers to come to know our Catholic faith and tradition. Weekly gatherings begin late September or early October and continue until Easter. Participants gather with a team who share faith experiences and lead participants in finding out the meaning of being a Roman Catholic. Participation in the RCIA program does not obligate an inquirer to join the Church. It is a discernment process that asks for your full commitment and participation with the team. If you ever wondered about our faith and would like to know more about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, please contact Sister Teresa Currie 667-5611 or Deacon Howard Gotell 667-2523. -
Baptism Preparation!
Please call Maria or Deacon Howard at 667-2523 to schedule your appointment. -
Mass Cancellation Notices!
Please listen to CKDH Radio for cancellation notices or visit their Web Site at CKDH.net -
Weekly Bulletin Submissions!
Anyone who would like to have a notice published in the bulletin is asked to submit their notice in writing to the Parish Office no later than Wednesday at noon. We ask for your cooperation in this matter. -
Prayer Wall!
We invite parishioners to continue placing intentions on the prayer wall and ask that you visit the prayer wall from time to time to read the intentions. You may also take one home, pray for that intention and return it the following week with your initial. We will refer to these intentions from time to time in the prayers of the faithful. We will also celebrate these intentions with a prayer ritual. -
Religious Articles Kiosk!
We have many religious articles available for sale in the hall entrance leading from the Sacristy. Rosaries, crucifixes, baptism gifts and cards and other items are available at reasonable prices. Ask Father Driscoll or Deacon Howard to open the cabinet for viewing after mass. -
In the Hospital?
It would be appreciated if the Parish Office could be informed of the admittance of family members to our local hospital to ensure a visit by the pastoral team. -
Donations!
When considering a memorial donation at the time of death, we remind parishioners that Saint Charles - Nativity Cemetery, St. Vincent de Paul and Holy Family Parish Building Fund also have memorial cards. These memorial cards are available at our funeral homes and the Parish Office for your donations. Please consider these charities when making a memorial donation. -
No Scents Just Make Sense!
Scent Free Reminder..We ask your cooperation, when attending church functions, to please refrain from using scented products. The usage of scented products makes it impossible for some people to remain at Sunday Eucharist.
